I went to sleep at about 11pm. I woke up at 3am and started to cough and I felt like I did the night before, I was about to stop breathing. So I got up, went down stairs and used the cough assist machine. This is what I affectionately call my vacuum cleaner for my lungs. I pulsed air in and then sucked it out and then removed the junk that came up with my second device which seems a lot like that device dentists use to remove excess saliva from your mouth. Then I injected a bottle of Pedialyte. And an episode of not breathing was cancelled last night! Now for possible causes. I thought about it more and decided that the fan I have blowing on my face to assist breathing is the cause. That is what is drying me out. But that is a non negotiable item for me. I have to have the fan to breathe throughout the night. So it looks like I have a workaround now. The only downside is I have to get up and use the device and it wakes me up. But the good outweighs the bad, I didn't suffer an episode of not breathing and I was able to fall back to sleep and slept until 8:30am. So I will call this a rare win against the affects of ALS!

Good morning Russ. Hope you slept well. Have you thought about putting a humidifier in your room to increase the moisture concentration in the air? Might help? Takes care
To some, building this web page and blog could be considered a "curious" endevour. I find it of value for helping put my own personal life challenges in perspective. Thanks.
Colin, Yes I do!
I’m sure you have a humidifier going.
Do you have oxygen hooked up to you when you sleep?
