Last night when I went to bed I took one of the two medicines I have to slow down ALS. It comes in a pill format. I am trying to use my mouth as much as I can. I am fighting very long odds but I will fight to the end. Anyways, the way I have to take pills now is by throwing them to the back of my mouth into the zone of no return. Last night I did that but couldn't swallow the pill. So I took a little sip of water and bam! It happened again, I start whooping for air. After about 30 seconds I was able to breath normally again. But this tends to rule out a food allergy. I have messaged my doctor about this and hopefully then can figure out what is going on with my breathing. I am sure it is ALS related.
I have something similar especially if I drink through a straw and it hits the back of my throat, it caused my throat to close up. I have to will myself to relax and it will open up after about 45 seconds but it scares everyone around me more than it does me
Thanks I will do that! I am pretty relaxed about it. I know to stay calm and slow everything down. But I would like to understand why two different actions (smoothie and taking a pill) result.in the same thing. My doctor just said stay away from raspberries Can't imagine I should stay away from pills!
