Odd piece of nostalgia.

Writer: Russ NewtonRuss Newton

The rocking chair on the front of this post was my Great Grandmother on my mothers side of the family. Mary was her name and she had this old rocking chair for a very long time. The family lore claims that my Great Grandfather made it. But no way for me to prove that. But I have been hauling it around as we moved all over the county. Below is picture of it from today. My ex wife Sue deserves the credit for it holding it up. It broke when someone sat in it and she put it together and sanded it and stained it back to its original black color. I assume you can see in the picture it has held up good but the stain is fading away. I like the way it looks now.

I am the one in the stylish check patterned bib overalls. From 1962.

You are still recognizable in that photo, almost 60 years later. I was like, that's Russ! Nice chair, too.
